Flat festoon cables get their odd name from a type of hanging garland because they typically hang below telescoping arms or sliding trolleys. Their flat construction reduces the likelihood of coiling or tangling as moving parts expand and contract. Each cable is comprised of soft-drawn uncoated copper conductors which are color-coded in flame and oil-resistant PVC insulation, as well as a tough PVC jacket.
